Certain people, eh? You wouldn't be acting as a kindasorta conduit,
would you, Em?

Testy? An old Richard Dawson fan there? He often used that word on
Match Game. (Loved that show.)
when somebody uses big words they don't understand.)[...]
BIG WORD GLOSSARY
[1] Glycolysis: The metabolic breakdown of glucose and other sugars
that releases energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
[2] Mechanotransduction: The process by which cells convert mechanical
stimuli into a chemical response.
Thanks so much, John, but I can handle a dictionary and a search
engine quite well. I understand a lot and can generally look up what I
don't grasp, however I do appreciate those who write to the fifth or
sixth grade level. If it's good enough for USA Today then...
After all, this isn't pubmed and so, imo, you're doing "your readers"
(where'd Mr. Tapeguy go?) a disservice by using a dollar word when a
penny word is sufficient. To wit: Why say "Your proboscis is
exceedingly immense!" when "Your nose is friggin' HYOOOG!" works just
as well?
Hth.
Henh. And whuddyaknow! I got proboscis right without looking it up.
Yeah, I checked (*verified the accuracy* for Emmy, naturally).
Although I got dropped by the word argument in my first (and only)
spelling bee, I like to think I have a sixth sense for most spelling
errors. ;o)
