Re: 11 Year Old Rock Throwing Girl Barely Avoids Jail

Throwing a 2 pound rock at someone's skull = homicidal maniac.

Mark my words, this little chick will be in jail before she turns 20. There's something not hooked up right in the brain of somebody who does things like this at age 11.

I've been thinking about this and this is where I'm going to agree. I'm trusting that the cops knew some piece of this that we aren't seeing. Being bullied is often the catalyst for a kid going over the edge into violence. Intervention can help. Sometimes intervention means being arrested and getting in the system.

I don't think a bunch of cops on the street would have missed/dismissed the role of 6 attacking boys. No one is saying they got off without appropriate punishment. (We all agree that the appropriate punishment for throwing water balloons is not a police matter, right?) But whatever provoked the girl into throwing the rock, it reached a serious level and needs to be dealt with seriously. Not necessarily thrown in jail, but you just can't dismiss it. The cops know this. They're not the judge and jury, they're the law enforcers. The kid used deadly force against other kids. That isn't acceptable.

If it comes to trial then you can count on the judge or jury to reconcile all the facts.
