DirecTV associated with it practice of leasing receivers to
individuals who purchase them at retail outlets such as Best Buy and
Circuit City. We have received reports that many individuals are
purchasing the receivers only to find out later that they really don't
own them. Instead they are actually "leased" and the subscriber is
then charged $4.99 per month. In fact, under the DirecTV contract the
consumer is required to pay up to $460 if they fail to return the
receiver when they quit DirecTV.
If this has happened to you, we would be very interested in speaking
with you.

Direct TV, on several occasions, told us it was their receiver and if we quit they would come and get the receiver. I told them come on the Sheriff would be waiting to arrest them for attempted theft.
