Generally its more than a "simple survey" including
- multiple surveys and pingponging many advertising sites;
- having to attend some other seminar like a time-share in person;
- having to pay fees for further steps in the application;
- installing potentially harmful adware on your computer;
- entering a lottery where only one actual coupon is ever awarded;
- counterfeit coupons.
At best they are just building mailing/phone lists and directing you
to large amount of advertising.
At worst there may be making money off of fees or installing malware
on your computer.
There have been many variations like "coke versus pesi", "free ipod",
etc.
Has someone like consumer reports written about this?
.
