I cant see why you cant get ink for printers that will print on CDs and DVDs that
can print on non inkjet printable blanks when you just want mono on the printing etc.
Because inkjet ink needs to be able to spray in an even pattern,
and stay wet until it hits the surface. The amount of "bloom" ink
has when it hits a surface directly affects the image quality.
I dont find that a problem with the standard ink.
The only problem is that it takes days to dry so that it doesnt smudge.
If the ink spreads, the image becomes blurry, which is hte idea
behind photo paper. To get accurate color reproduction, you
need to start with a blank canvas, hence the white printable DVDs.
I dont need accurate color reproduction, just ink that
will dry at a reasonable speed and be readable for text.
Hold those DVDs that you wrote on with a sharpie
and you probably can see right though them.
I dont care, what I write on them is fine readability wise.
The problem is that my handwriting/printing is so poor that I prefer to use a proper printer.
