If it is a business selling something on their web site, shame on them!

They should design their web site so everyone can easily see the
information. This includes dial-up people and means mostly text and limited
graphics.

Might want to email the web site and teach them a thing or two about web
site design!

Flash player is simply incompatible with dial-up, so why not say so up
front? I can't even download it.

When you see the movie above, you have successfully downloaded it?

Huh? What movie? All I see is white rectangular box with a red "X"
in the upper-left corner.

And as a secondary complaint, ISPs should not provide their own pages
and email messages with Flash, knowing full well that dial-ups have
problems with it. Maybe it's a conspiracy: the ISPs are forcing us to
go DSL.

A long-time pet peeve of mine, this is. Back in the stone age, when
grownups ran the internet, they tested web pages for various clients and
connection speeds. Now, if you are lucky, they test for 508 compliance.
These usually-youthful geeks assume everyone has broadband, and don't
provide escape buttons for a non-animated, non-flash version of the web
site any more. In most cases these doo-dads are nothing but programmatic
masturbation- 'look how kewel a coder I am!'- and add nothing to
content. I can forgive that on entertainment sites, but when I am
surfing at work, I am looking for data, not entertainment. Don't waste
my time. If you make me wade through an animated ad to get to your front
door, guess what? I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Agreed, though I have broadband, and a reasonably fast PC, this bloat
often loads down my PC to a crawl. I also found that sites that are
loaded with graphics, flash animation, and crap is very lacking in the
content department.
I 'm talking high noise and almost no signal. What a damn waste.

Obligatory rant- MS is one of the biggest offenders, by virtue of their
recent bloated software releases. Do they honestly think anyone without
broadband has Any Freaking Way to stay up-to-date on patches? There
ain't enough hours in the day to do it over dialup. Broadband
penetration is still under 60%, last I looked.

Don't forget the scandal that happened right after Katrina when a
gov't web site *REQUIRED* Internet Explorer 6.0 in order to run. This
was a site for people to apply for relief/aid. Just fucking great. At
the time 6.0 was very new, and if you couldn't get access to a
computer with 6.0 on it, you were *** out of luck. The local
libraries here in Los Angeles were still using 5.5.

Just imagine being homeless, all of your possessions are gone,
perhaps some of your family members too, and to add on to this ***,
you have to run around trying to find a computer with the correct
version of I.E. just to apply for fucking aid!
Hopefully gov't heads rolled for this. Google search:
