Bingo. You understand the dilemma. I rent for about 60-75 days a year
in Florida. And live the rest of the time in Australia with a company
car. If I take the rental car company's liability and collision, I
actually double my costs! I'd rather pay $300 bucks a year or so for a
non-owners policy that covers rental cars, which are considered
commercial vehicles in some states. In some states this is a breeze.
In others, like Florida, it seems to be all but impossible, unless
someone out there knows a company that offers it. Geico won't. Nor
Progressive. I think the rental car lobby got to the state legislature
here.

Don't you have insurance at home in order to drive your company car?
Maybe your insurance company at home can give you the coverage you need
in Florida. If not, perhaps they can suggest some options for you.

The company car is in in Australia, with an Australian insurance
policy, that does not cover use in the U.S. I don't have insurance in
the states. Gosh, why is this dilemma so hard to grasp for some in
this newsgroup?

Surely, other people who visit the United States, including Australians,
manage to rent a car here in the states when they visit. What do they do
for insurance?
