Best Credit Card Companies?

I am searching for a new credit card. For many years with MBNA and
then about 18 months after they were bought out by Bank of America, I
paid my bill via automatic payments on the last day of the month in
full. This month, without notice, they arbitrarily decided to change
my due date by a week (so that it cleverly fell the day after a 3-day
weekend, no less), and so of course my payment was received one day
late, resulting in a late charge of $39. When I complained, I was
basically told "tough; we have the right to change your due date
whenever we want." Eventually, I got half of the late charge back. I'm
sure, though, that when my next bill comes it will contain finance
charges for not having paid off the full balance in time, a cycle that
will take a few months to clear up, all the while racking up more
interest charges.

I don't need to do business with a company that wants to play tricks
on its customers in good standing (after my discussions with customer
service, I'm forced to conclude that the intent of moving the due date
was specifically to trap customers like this -- a situation like this
would have been instantly resolved by MBNA, or any other reasonable
company). Unfortunately, as the banking playing field shrinks, good
companies become increasing hard to find. Can anyone recommend a good
company to transfer my credit card accounts to?
