Incorrect. If I withdraw cash with an ATM card, related info appears
on my statement and it is available online (to me) for the next 18
months. The *PIN* info might be deleted but that's irrelevant as
long as the PIN used was the one that was correct at the time, and
if it was wrong the transaction wouldn't have happened. The card
number can be kept a long time.
If you get extra back, it will not show the extra amount, only
the amount you selected. In the U.S. It is a violation to keep
the debit or credit card numbers after a certain period of time.
Pity the time in question doesnt qualify. And you
are just plain wrong with ATM transactions anyway.
I will ask my bank this week, how long ATM are supposed
to keep records once the transaction is complete.
There is no nice tidy limit that has any relevance to the situation being discussed.
