You may have recently seen the NBC Dateline report where Chris Hansen intentionally got himself involved with these email scammers who need to give away millions. His point was to waste their time following empty leads. He managed to corner them on camera in England and make them look pretty foolish.
Lately, I have received a number of "job offers" to accept shipments of cash. I respond saying that I am interested, but provide them with a completely bogus name and non-existent address. Just today, I got an email stating that my first package was enroute and they gave me a tracking number.
When I went to the UPS site, it said
Status: Exception - nee note below.
A CORRECT STREET NUMBER IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION
And they wasted the money on delivering this package "next day early AM"! Which is the most expensive.
If enough of us do this, we may just put these scammers out of business!
Good for you! If you saw the same dateline show I did, there was a guy doing the same thing you are. All the time they take up dealing with you takes time away from them scamming more susceptible people. It slows them down. So it probably saves someone's life savings. Just be sure you always give an address that isn't real.
