and who wants to upgrade to another OS after they
finaly invested alot of money to get
XP patched up? Knowing M$, Vista is most likely just another rats nest
of bugs and exploits.

Second that emotion! I bought a laptop with Vista for my wife a
couple of months ago. WinXP was a few bux more. I decided to go
with Vista, just because. What a *mistake*! I bought a copy of XP
(though haven't loaded it yet - no time) because Vista sucks so
badly!

Just out of curiosity, why do you say Vista sucks?

In no particular order:
- Incompatable with much software
- Bloated pig/resource hog
- Unstable
- SWMBO *hates* it
- Having to answer *YES* every time a program is loaded

I bought a new HTPC about a month ago, and of course it came with
Vista pre-installed on it. The only real complain I have had with it
thus far is the "reduced functionality mode" that completely cripples
your machine if you make too drastic a hardware change (in my case, I
had to replace a damaged motherboard). There's a bit of a Catch-22
with Vista's RFM: it will theoretically allow you to go onto the
Internet and fix your license, except that in my case the ethernet NIC
was on the motherboard and thus got swapped out also; the new NIC had
no drivers installed, nor could I install them because RFM is VERY
Draconian. I wound up having to do a telephone activation to get
everything working again - a royal pain in the ass, let me tell you!

That little snafu aside, however, Vista seems no worse than XP to me.
Why don't you like it?

I'm really not all that happy with XP either. I'd put Win2K on it,
but there is no SMP support for 2K.
