Unfortunately the calls I get aren't covered by the national do-not-call
list. During election time the phone rings several times during the day
and night by people taking surveys. Or they are political calls wanting me
to vote their way. They are totally annoying and there doesn't seem to be
anything that can be done about them other than to not answer the phone,
which is what I do. I also get calls throughout the year from questionable
charities, usually bogus police organizations or pleas to "help the
children." The other calls are from debt collectors looking for somebody
who once had my telephone number several years ago. No matter what I've
tried there just doesn't seem to be a way to stop the calls so I just don't
answer the phone anymore. Just like what spam did to email, junk calls
have now made the telephone a less than convenient technology tool. I
unplug the phone at night because of all the weirdos in this world who
never learned manners.
