I uaed a check to pay for a purchase. The clerk wanted my drivers

number, it's unlisted, and NO ONE gets it except friends and family.
It cost me $75 to get the number changed several years back because
the telemarketers were calling constantly. I pay a couple bucks every
month for keeping it unlisted. There is no way I am going to give it
out. When she asked for the phone number I told her I dont use phones,
I only use email, and offerred her my email address. She kind of
freaked and did not know what to say. She had to get the manager who
also was not sure. She finally just said it was fine.
Actually, I was nearly telling the truth. I avoid phones as much as I
can, and use email for most stuff.
Geez, is this really so hard? Make up a number and be done with it!
That's what I do.

The best one is to use the local area code and add 555 1212 to it. If
they call, it connects them to information and bills them $0.50.
