Farm mechanization + amnesty for illegals = *really* cheap lettuce (PLUS millions of out-of-work ex-illegals)

The theory:

Millions of low-wage amnestied illegal aliens will fund Social Security for
retiring baby boomers.

The reality:

A. As the researchers at U.S. immigration think tanks have already
demonstrated, far from amnestied illegal aliens funding baby boomers'
retirements, ironically the baby boomers will be competing with the
amnestied illegal aliens for Social Security funds/benefits/resources

1. After performing years of manual labor for
unscrupulous American contractors who undercut
their honest, law-abiding competitors by
hiring low-wage illegals and cutting-corners
in regards to safety issues, by their late-
forties a huge portion of the overwhelmingly
uneducated amnestied illegals are in pretty
bad physical shape.

2. Chronic medical problems such as high rates of
alcoholism (and its accompanying cirrhosis of
the liver), drug abuse, violence, diabetes and
other serious issues characterize the illegal
alien population. Last year The Los Angeles
Times rans a huge report on the fact that
obesity is at epidemic levels in the anchor
baby population in the USA; one look at the
anchors' parents often explains why.

As someone who's bilingual and who regularly
watches Spanish-language television and reads
Spanish-language print media here in California,
it's clear that some of the most cherished
goals of Bush's "hard-working immigrants [sic]"
are apparently to score huge legal settlements
with gringo employers for on-the-job accidents;
to go on Worker's Compensation (Schwarzenegger
was elected in large part because Worker's Comp
abuse by illegals was at epidemic levels in
California -- look it up!); or to win a big "slip
and fall"-type lawsuit in the U.S. The Spanish-
language electronic and print media are absolutely
chock-full of ads by "¡Se habla español!" lawyers
competing for such cases among the state's illegal
aliens. Amnesty would likely bring with it a
veritable flood of claims-seeking newcomers who
would for all intents and purposes murder the
Social Security system (which may very well be the
Machiavellian Bush team's intention.)

Remember, under Bush's insane "Social Security
totalization agreement" illegals would be credited
for years and years of work *they* *claim* they did
in Mexico; who's to say that ten million amnestied
Jose Gomez's really *didn't* suffer a debilitating
accident at that tequila bottling plant in
Hermosillo in 1998 that they say they did? Who's to
say that that gunshot wound from a long-ago bar fight
in Sinaloa really *isn't* "physically incapacitating,"
like that gringo lawyer says it is, or that that stab
wound inflicted by the brother of the first common-law
wife really *didn't* leave their right arms with only
"60% usefulness"?

While healthy-eating, vitamin-poppping, relatively fit,
low-alcohol-consuming gringos are forming racquetball
and softball leagues in their 70s, 50-year-old "old"
amnestied illegals with chronic health conditions will
be lining up in droves for unearned Social Security
jackpots for the rest of *their* lives.

by Mexican 'wetbacks' to a current rate of more than
1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation
in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters

president had a sense of urgency about illegal immigration when he took

“America ‘was faced with a breakdown in law enforcement on a very large
scale,’ Mr. Brownell said. ‘When I say large scale, I mean hundreds of
thousands were coming in from Mexico [every year] without restraint.’"
Just two of MANY American cops murdered by illegals:

"Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are engaged in
criminal activity. Identity theft, use of fraudulent Social Security
numbers and green cards, tax evasion, driving without licenses represent
some of the crimes that are engaged in by the majority of illegal aliens on
a daily basis merely to maintain and hide their illegal status. In
addition, violent crime and drug distribution and possession is also
prevalent among illegal aliens. Over 25% of today's federal prison
population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of
felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal
