Well, that's one way to look at it, I suppose.
I can understand rescue people jeopardizing their lives to save
people from burning buildings. earthquakes, mine cave-ins, etc.,
Why? If you really want to reduce risk for emergency workers and reduce
the costs to society, screw the mountain climbers-- cut off those who
*really* use the system frequently. Mountain climbers are spit in the
ocean compared to vehicular emergencies, for instance. And most any
seasoned investigator can tell you that vehicular emergencies are caused
by stupid drivers, not by any act of god or equipment failure.
People _choose_ to live in buildings with inadequate fire protection or
poor wiring. Nobody forces them to. They _choose_ to live in earthquake
areas. They choose to work in mines.
More than a few might call those people idiots, too.
What about idiots who don't check the condition of their airline's
planes?
Let's just disband all professional emergency workers except for just
enough to help those who can pay for it. Let the churches do it for
everyone else. Hell, we are turning over all other public services to
churches, so why not? Emergency services are just too expensive and they
don't allow for natural selection ala the annual Darwin awards.
We could even close ERs in hospitals and lower medical costs instantly!
Wow, what a BRILLIANT idea!
You wanna play? You gotta pay!
Did you make that up yourself? Not only brilliant, a poet as well.
You want to play games?
There are things that people have to do to travel, work, live, etc. No has
to climb a mountain. No one said to do away with ER or hospitals or cut
funds. All I said is that if someone like you is stupid enough to climb a
mountain and get your ass in trouble, I don't think we have to jeopardize a
normal persons life to save your ass. First of all you were stupid to climb
the mountain and secondly your were stupid in saying that we should supply
help to you because of your stupidity. And if you don't like my poetry,
shove that mountain up where the rescuers will never find it.
