I'm not sure where to look on this but time is quickly running out so
I'm hitting everything. My father-in-law is a retired foreign national
that was just diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. The hospital in
Florida refuses to treat him because they (hospital) do not bill
foreign governments. Even though his government run medical sent
paperwork, in English, informing the hospital that he is covered 100%.
He has already paid 20K out of his own pocket and needs chemo, but
again the hospital is refuses.
What can be done? I find it hard to believe that a US hospital cannot
treat a foreigner when on vacation and they become injured. Any ideas
or thoughts?
TIA!
If he spent 20K out of his own pocket for treatment, wouldn't it have been
cheaper to buy a first-class plane ticket home? If he has trouble getting
on/off the plane, buy a wheelchair and a 2nd first-class plane ticket. This
isn't rocket science. If he's healthy enough to survive a round of chemo,
he's healthy enough to fly. -Dave
