I've received email that looked like phish but everything
I have learned in a couple of decades appeared to indicate
that this was sent directly through PayPal's mail server.

Spending an hour on the phone with Paypal only convinced
me that the people I was talking to knew less about this
than the average type bear.

You continue to do business with PayPal, despite their well-known
arrogance and incompetence?

You're setting yourself up for WAY more than just having a bad day...

In my pitiful defense:
I've never given Paypal the credit card number they want "to make me
verified",
I've only used a "throw away" free Versatel checking acct with Bank
of America for transfers to or from Paypal, I only keep the minimum
amount in that checking account, I've never done anything but cash
in and cash out of that acct so there should be no trail of account
or check numbers leading to my other real bank accounts.

So, if someone hacks into Paypal the most they can get is my name
and address and the shell checking acct number at BofA, and if they
further hack into that they should only be able to get the $125,
and I can go whine and complain and be a pain in the ass to both
Paypal and BofA until the day they die, and beyond.

I recommend this method to anyone using Paypal or the net.

Actually, I've had more trouble with incompetent software failures
at other banks I've used than I have had with Paypal or BofA.
