Many (most? all?) new electric blankets have electronic controls
without a "hard" on-off switch. You can't set the switch to "ON" and
have the blanket turn on when you plug it in or when a timed outlet
switches on.
The only way to turn them on is to have them plugged into a live
outlet and push the button on the control.
