Thanks for everyone's replies. I am guessing Strawberries submitted my
credit card information to the magazine company when I signed up for
the freebies. I never would have requested the free magazines if they
had asked me for any billing information on the magazine form.
My magazines have all been cancelled, but not through that phone call
conversation. After the conversation, I hung up and called the above
mentioned 1877 number that I found on my CC statement, and cancelled my
magazines through the automated teller.
I'm beginning to think there are two different con artists here. The
magazine company associated with the 877-781-3425 ( i googled it as
well, which revealed a number of complaints). They're the ones that
initially billed me for the magazines in July. I don't think the
people who have been calling me over the past couple weeks requesting
info are associated with them at all. They're just some scammers
looking to get my CC info.
I'm curisous to see if they call back again, if so I will attempt the
*57 trace.
