It's not that bad everywhere. Last I heard farepayers paid about 2/3
the cost of Philadelphia's city transit division, despite drivers getting
something like $18 or so per hour and family health coverage 100% paid by
the employer after a few years. And there will be plenty more farepayers
when gas prices get high enough to get people to drive less.
