I am having a house built and one of the items my wife and I want, is a
larger bath tub. We want just a regular style tub; not Jacuzzi, whirlpool,
air, massager, etc..... Just a normal style tub except it being a bit
larger to accommodate 2 people. Not necessarily for taking baths, but for
walking room between us should we both take a shower at the same time.
Most of the tubs I have seen when they approach the 6' mark and 42" wide,
decide to make the inner section of the tub curved. I guess the idea is to
make it a nice experience for a bath by making these curves and body rests,
etc... But I am not buying the tub for this purpose, I want to keep the
space on the inner part of the tub as a regular tub would be. I want just a
bit more room in the tub than a standard tub so she can have her 3' of space
on her side, and me have 3' on my side.:-) The curvature of the inner side
of some of the tubs take away from that walking room. The width of 42" is a
nicety, and I just wonder if there is a tub out there, regular style, that
is 72" long and 42" wide?
Anyone been through this before of looking for a larger regular style tub?
I would prefer enclosed tub, but I have no objection of finding the tub and
then tile the surround portion. The key component is the tub, the walls
are secondary and can be worked out.
