<rkannan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
My 15 year old Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator (Model NO. ED25DQXYN00)
broke down yesterday. Looks like the compressor had probably quit. Is it
worth fixing it or is it time to get a new one? Any feedback is
appreciated.
Consumer Reports' May issue has a chart answering this for common
appliances. I don't have my copy to hand, but I believe the answer is
YES, replace it. Not just the cost of repairs but the increased
energy use of an old model mean you'll save money by replacing it.
