Do most lenders require flood insurance for loans on houses that are
located in the 500 year flood plain?
In my experience, most lenders have only cared about the 100-year flood
zone, not 500-year. But lots of lenders are being more careful about
flood insurance post-Katrina.
Thanks for the info. Since I'm located in the Midwest, hopefully
hurricanes won't be a factor in how strict the mortgage company chooses to
be.
