Ein vergleichbarer Chip, wie der LPC2364, kostet $8 und hat die Punkte, die
ich oben beim PIC bemängelt habe, also 10/100 MBit Ethernet, Full-Speed
USB, einen 10-Bit DA-Wandler und noch CAN:

Außerdem einen ARM-Core, was es leichter macht, zur Konkurrenz zu wechseln,
z.B. Atmel AT91SAM7X. Dafür braucht man aber noch einen externen Ethernet
Chip für die physikalische Seite, der aber auch nur $3,60 kostet:

Geht aber sogar noch preiswerter. Der PIC18F66J60 kostet nur $7,68 und
kommt auch ohne externen PHY aus:

Interessant für den 100-Pin PIC ist auch der externe Memory-Bus für bis zu
2 MByte SRAM/Flash. War jetzt aber doch weniger PIC-Gebashe als gedacht :-)

Zusammen mit uIP, einem sehr kompakten TCP/IP-Stack, der unter BSD-Lizenz
angeboten wird:

das auch unter BSD-Lizenz steht, kann man bestimmt interessante Dinge damit
anstellen. Die ARM-CPUs sind dabei natürlich im Vorteil, da pico]OS schon
dafür portiert wurde.

Ist schon faszinierend, daß man mittlerweile einen Computer mit Ethernet,
USB, Megabytes an RAM und Gigabytes an Flash (SD-Card) für so um die 50
Euro selber bauen könnte. Will man noch Grafikausgabe haben, dann kann man
es mit so ca. 20 Euro mehr um einen Chip mit integriertem RAM,
2D-Beschleunigerfunktionen und digitalen und analogen VGA-Ausgang wie
diesen hier ergänzen:

Und alles zusammen passt locker in ein doppelthohes CD-Gehäuse.
