Teilen auch Server, vor allem beim Senden, denn da legt der *Client*
selber ganz alleine die Header fest, und versendet selber per SMTP. In
einer richtigen Client/Server Umgebung wie Groupwise, Notes, Exchange
u.ä. hat der Client mit dem generieren der SMTP Mail und der darin
enthanltenen Header *nichts* zu tun, sondern das macht der Server.

Nein, kann er nicht, weil Ihn im Normalfall SMTP Header nicht die Bohne
interessieren, bzw. er die noch nichtmal sieht.

Ich kann's einfach nicht fassen, dass der
Client das nicht kann. Gibt es eigentlich sonst noch irgend einen
Mail-Client, der das _nicht_ kann? O.k., ich kenne "nur" Thunderbird,
Outlook 2k, Pegasus, Eudora, Opera Mail, den Mozilla-Browser, und PINE
habe ich früher auch benutzt. Bis auf PINE bin ich mir sicher, dass die
das alle konnten.

Ich befürchte Du verwechselst hier klassiche Mailclients mit
Groupwaresystemen. Outlook in Verbindung mit Exchange Server oder Lotus
Notes können das auch nicht.


Welchen Teil von "Nein" hast Du nicht verstanden? <g>

Was ich mich jetzt frage: Warum wusste der IT-Consultant, der den
Groupwise-Teil unserer neuen Novell-Server-Landschaft installiert hat,
das nicht?

Woher soll ich das wissen?

Vielleicht, weil sein Arbeitgeber auch Exchange-Server
anbietet, und sein Chef ihn zwingt, Outlook+Exchange zu benutzen? Oder
benutzt der das am Ende sogar _freiwillig_? #:-|

Was hat das damit zu tun? Ausserdem machen (siehe oben) Outlook+Exchange
DSN (wenn es denn an ist, was es bestenfalls bei Spinnern ist), und
nicht MDN.
Warum um alles in der Welt sollte ich als Empfänger in einer
Unternehmensumgebung dem Absender freiwillig mitteilen ob und wann seine
eMail wem zugestellt worden ist?
