Also ich habe hier zweimal IEEE 1394 Controller von VIA welche beide mit
einem Oxford 811 ohne Probleme laufen. Einer davon als PCI Karte, der
Andere als PC-Card.

Ich kann mich aber dunkel an Probleme bei Apple im zusamenhang mit
bestimmten Oxford Bridges erinnern, ist aber schon etwas her (1-2a). Das
wurde durch ein Firmware Update behoben. [1][2]

Ich habe keine Erfahrung mit Adaptecs PC-Cards fuer IEEE 1394, aber im
allgemeinen war Adaptec brauchbar. Besonders interessant ist die Option ein
Netzteil zur Stromversorgung anzuschliessen.

Generell gibt es nicht viele Hersteller von IEEE 1394 Host Controllern,
soweit ich weiss: NEC, VIA und TI. Adaptec verwendet soweit ich weiss NEC,
welcher ganz gut sein soll.
