Teilweise kein Ton unter openSUSE 10.3

Hallo allerseits,

seit einiger Zeit nutze ich Linux (openSUSE 10.3, KDE) als Betriebssystem und bin soweit ganz zufrieden. Als Jahrelanger Windows-Nutzer hat man es jedoch nicht leicht sich umzustellen. Jetzt stehe ich vor einem Problem, das ich nicht nachvollziehen kann und wäre dankbar für Hilfe und Tipps.

Teilweise "fehlt" mir unter Linux der Ton. MP3s abspielen mit amaroK geht, Kaffeine und xine spielen alle Videos mit Ton, wunderbar. Die selben Videos unter VLC, KMPlayer oder mit MPlayer bleiben stumm. MPlayer gibt immerhin eine offene Fehlermeldung: [AO_ALSA] Playback open error. No such device. Das Problem liegt mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit bei meinem Onboard-Soundchip, für den es wohl keine passenden Treiber gibt. Beim Versuch den Sound einzurichten sind die Testtöne auch nicht zu hören.

In Webseiten eingebettete Töne oder Videos sind natürlich auch nicht zu hören.

Mich irritiert aber, dass ja teilweise Sound vorhanden ist. Was kann ich machen außer eine extra Soundkarte einzubauen?

Ach ja, wenn ich irgendwelche log-Files posten soll bitte verraten wo ich sie finde, dann brauch ich nicht so lange suchen.
