Danke Roy, aber ich kann weder den alten (ersten ATI-Treiber) deinstallieren (Systemsteuerung) - bringt Fehler "Initialisation error" noch die Standard-VGA-Treiber von Win XP installieren. Ich habe es zwar geschafft über den Gerätemanager die Treiber rauszuwerfen, aber wenn ich dann die Catalyst-Treiber installieren will, wird gesagt, ich müsse erst Standard-VGA-Treiber installiert haben. Und die habe ich nicht mehr verfügbar.
Soll ich die alten ATI-Treiber (die, von der Treiber-CD) wieder installieren und dann Catalyst-Treiber drüber bügeln? Anders scheint es nicht möglich..

findet sich:
"2) Removal Instructions
a) Go to Add/Remove Programs located in the Windows Control Panel
b) Run the ATI Software Uninstall Utility. Restart the machine once prompted.
c) (Should this utility not be present, it can be downloaded from the CATALYST™ - ATI Maintenance Utilities page.
d) Remove the DAO/MDAC component and any remaining ATI software from Add/Remove Programs
e) Should items fail to remove, select the appropriate link below for ways on manually deleting items from the registry.

f) C:\Program Files and verify that the ATI Multimedia folder no longer exists
(This folder may exist in another location, depending if the installation path was changed during the initial setup)
g) Empty the Windows Temp folder by going to C:\Windows\Temp
h) Verify that the ATI Technologies keys are removed from the Registry by performing the following:
i. Click START, select RUN, and type "REGEDIT"
ii. Should references to ATI still remain, they will need to be deleted. First, create a backup of the Registry.
iii. From the menu bar, choose 'Registry', then 'Export'. Save the registry backup file to your desktop. Double-clicking the saved file will allow you to reverse any incorrect changes made to the registry.
iv. Once the Registry has been backed up, proceed to remove any references to ATI from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE.
i) Restart the computer
j) Close all other applications running, including any live monitoring anti-virus software, before attempting to re-install the ATI software."
