Finalmente ci sono riuscito :-)
Dove sbagliavo era nel creare prima un account per poi effettuare
l'acquisto con la Gift Card. Ma non sembra proprio possibile creare un
account senza dover per forza inserire una carta di credito valida per
gli USA.

Così ho fatto il contrario. Ho prima chiesto la validazione della Gift
Card, a quel punto è ricomparso lo stesso modulo per creare un account,
ma al passo successivo la carta di credito risultava opzionale.
