In what directory or folder are the contacts stored in Kontact? I want to
back them up so when I update I don't lose them.
Thanks,
RV
Assuming it has not chnaged in more recent versions of KDE (owing to
KAddressBook integration), try the following (checking in KDE 3.1):
/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf
I can remotely log in to a more modern machine, so let me check...
Yes, seems to be the same in KDE 3.4, but multiple files exist:

drwxr-xr-x 41 roy users 1096 2006-02-24 13:11 ..

-rw-r--r-- 1 roy users 77663 2006-03-10 08:06 std.vcf_5
-rw-r--r-- 1 roy users 76869 2006-02-25 17:31 std.vcf_6
-rw-r--r-- 1 roy users 77272 2006-03-05 10:25 std.vcf_7
As a general idea, it is good to have the whole of ~/.kde backup up every
now and then. It contains the settings that correspond to a (preferable)
fully-working system state.
Best wishes,
Roy
