single click problems

Hi,

In Konqueror file manager, in tree view, the behavior of single click
does not appear to be consistent. Most of the time single clicking opens
files, and sometimes a single click selects the file and I have to double
click to open it.

I would prefer to always have a single click select and
double click open. I have not been able to figure out why it behaves
differently from time to time. I have even had 2 file browsers open at
the same time, and each having the opposite behavior. I have gone
into Control Center, Pheriphials, Mouse and selected "Double-click to open
files and folders (select icons on first click)." Does anyone know if this
is a bug or am I just not seeing some obscure wonderful "feature?"

I have Mandrake 9.2, and my help, about Konqueror says "Konqueror 3.1.4
(using KDE 3.1.3)" I did not have this problem with Mandrake 8.2 (not
sure what KDE was packaged with that).
