It's been announced that TexLive 2008 is frozen; and that the TexLive
maintainer focus on TL 2009. See for example

Berry explains :

Soon we will stop TL 2008 updates, in preparation for TL 2009.
For various reasons it is not practical to do keep doing 08 updates
all the way until 09 is ready. Take my word for it, please :).

So you can now consider that you reached the ultimate state of
perfection for TL2008 :-)
