Re: How to combine wiki/svn/apache2

I am trying to understand how mediawiki keeps track of files (uploads)
-
if I upload a newer version of a given file, it moves the old one into
an
"archive" - if there is a link to the file name, mediawiki will ask if
I want the
current version or revert to an old one - this can get tedious if
there are many
files - Simply uploading the files to the images/a/etcetc subdirectory
in mediawiki
does not seem sufficient ...

so yea, there must be an elegant way of creating a page with links to
the
uploaded files that are from a "working directory" that can be used
to
both "commit" and "copy" from a repository ...

(I am not quite an expert at programming, though my colleagues think
that having
to write a document using "ascii" and then running the text through a
program
to create the output (dvi or pdf or ps) is too complicated and that I
"program"
to "write" text/documents!)

thanks for the comments, will see what (if anything!) I can do with
the
mediawiki

Thank you, that is a very good article and it helps.  (I like the idea
of keeping track
of versions within the document using svn-multi)

I did not see a way to integrate a wiki into it - i.e. imagine a wiki
page where you can
upload a latex file (with subversion keeping track of different
versions) and scripts
on the server running latex on the current versions ...)

There is something calledwww.assembla.comthat _appears_ to be what
may work,
but have not been able to figure it out ...

PracTeX seems to be using some combination of a wiki, svn to collect

If not :) (here goes my question)
Where can I find instructions for the setting up of a document
assembly system using wiki/svn/apache2? (primarily for tex/latex,
images, bib files, and using a browser for get/put)
(I do it now through the command line - have setup a repository that I
can check out, check in changes, use viewvc to see diffs of text files
between changes - the person I am collaborating with can "learn" how
to use the command line, but the implementation using a browser/
apache2 would be enormously helpful)
(Yes, my collaborator can surely learn the command line to do all this
quite easily ... I am still curious as to what kind of document
assembly system can be setup for LaTeX)
The PracTeX joprunal itself has the answer, check out the article I
wrote for it

Here is the PracTeX link:

Well I guess the Assembla did something on their own. But if you're
familiar with programming, a solution could involve programming an
extension for MediaWiki (nice project by the way)
