I am using Y&Y and I am using dvipsone for ps conversion and Adobe
Distiller for PDF conversion.
If I use a half-tone image which was processed in Adobe Illustrator
Eps, then my file can't convert ps to pdf. Distiller shows some error
and it quits. While converting dvi to ps there was no problem. But if
we save the same image in Adobe Photoshop, I didn't receive any error
message. File converted to pdf format without any problem. But I need
to work with the Illustrator eps only. Is there any way to meet my
requirement? Kindly let me know asap.
Can you view the graphic in the ps file you create from your dvi without
a crash? Can you successfully convert the ps to pdf using ps2pdf?
Make sure the Illustrator EPS is saved without previews or any of the
other "extras" it offers via "Save As..." -- make it the plainest EPS
file possible. In my experience, all those extras do nothing but cause
trouble.
remember he's using y&y. inevitably, he'll be using an old version
(since the update that was in the works didn't get finished before the
firm folded), but y&y did have some very good properties. in
particular, it was good at understanding the output of other widnoze
programs -- istr the claim that it alone didn't care about previews
.... once upon a time.
personally, i would have tried for a route having dvipsone suck in the
original graphic rather than converting to ps.
saravanan -- try the y&y list rather than c.t.t (i don't think many
y&y-ers read this group, whereas there is the occasional answer on the
list).
