Thanks both of you for the replies. Lars' definition works for me and
so as far as I'm concerned I'm good to go. I don't know why I was
having trouble with your definition, Werner (I did use
\parallelrightarrow when I tried, but mis-typed my posting), I don't
use a very exotic tex setup, just pdflatex on a linux distribution +
vim.
