When I say it looks terrible, I mean that it just does not look sharp
at 100% zoom in Acrobat. Of course, if I zoom in, the outlines are
very crisp. However, it's just hard to read on the screen at a normal
size (i.e. 100%).
i've got noticeably poor eyesight, and regularly find it difficult to
read things on-screen (the paperless office means nothing to me ...
much to my wife's disgust). yet i have little difficulty reading that
file (with its huge line spacing) at 100% on my screen.
If I don't use the lmodern, it becomes much better to read.
i can't of course comment, since i don't see your non-lmodern version;
however, i've not seen problems of that sort elsewhere.
I mean, if I compare it with this document here, for example, it's
just like day and night: http://www.geocities.com/kijoo2000/latex_fonts.pdf
Any idea what font package this guy used?
that site doesn't work for me. if you're using acrobat, you can find
what fonts the file uses in "document properties"; doesn't tell you
what _package_ is in use, but will tell you, for example, if they're
using a commercial font.
