Hi,
I've installed version tetex v3.0. I'v been reading some docs, and
getting familiar with it.
When trying to include some fonts I got from font-folio 9, as described
in here:
/usr/share/texmf/doc/fontinst/fontinstallationguide.pdf
I get stuck where I'm supossed to modify dvips.cnf. This file does not
exist within my distribution so I guess I should be copying it from
somewhere and modify it?, also the editing of some .ps files in order
to include .map file of my fonts it's a bit confussing, maybe anyone
can bring somelight on this. Definetely this files aren't anywhere
kpsepath says they should, don't know what's wrong.
I come from docbook. And have got a book written for C5 (paper size),
which I'd like to port to tex.
Looking at the docs, I see there are many different packages or
extensions I could use for this. The question is which one to use? Been
reading this mailing list as well, and it looks like sometimes one gets
some sort of dependecy problems, or compatibility problems because of
things like this.
What I was looking for within my distribution is some config file
(texmf.cnf doesn't appear neither), that allows me to set c5 paper
size, or let it know to tex, so I guess I just need some call within my
tex file for this to work. on my texconfig I can barely see us paper
and a4.
And my last question is about tex's output. Among many others, it
outputs to dvi and postscript, my question is, are this two formats the
ones which provide us with the better quality? I mean would it pixelate
or once printed out you can see as if it were a pdf file?. Which is the
most used format on a press (or printing-press, sorry my english) to
output the better image, glyphs and documents quality in general?
Kind Regards,
.
