I am using memoir, which has quite similar commands, and with:
\setlength{\thanksmarkwidth}{0em}
\setlength{\thanksmarksep}{0em}
it does what you i think you want, that is, the mark and the text is
typeset continuosly, without any indentation.
memoir's \thanksmarsep is titling's \thanksmargin. I don't know if
it'll help you, but give it a try!
