Putty: Display question

I hope that this is the right forum for this question. If not, then
appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. I did
search this newsgroup, but was not able to find the answer earlier,
hence this post.
I'm using Putty 0.60 on my Windows XP PC. Works great for doing SSH
into remote UNIX servers and running email clients like Alpine etc.
The problem that I'm see is specific to Putty only, as other SSH
clients such SSH Tectia/SSH Client from www.ssh.com work just fine.
When I view an email using Alipne via Putty, the http links and email
addresses show up blank within the body of the email. Using the Up/
Down arrow key on the keyboard would show them by moving from the
first to the next and so on. Initially they would show as < .... >
(just the two left and right angled brackets with blanks in the
middle. When I press say the down arrow key the cursor will move from
the first to the next link or email address in the body and will
highlight it. This is more typical if the message is sent in html
format containing html tags. I wish there was a way to attach a screen
shot with this message here to show you what exactly I'm seeing. It
may be bit difficult to understand by just trying to explain it here.
I'm sure that there must be some setting in Putty to fix this, but for
the life of me I can't find it. I've went thru the settings several
times, but not able to locate which specific setting controls this. As
I mentioned above, this is specific to Putty only and others don't
have this issue. The reason that I like Putty is because it handles
the non-English characters in the display via the UTF-8 option easily,
which the other programs like SSH Tectia etc lack badly.
I'm hoping that someone out there may have some suggestions for this.
Thanks
