How do you take the Sinclair programs that are on the net, and get
them into a audio file to load into a Sinclair? I would like to put
some on a CD, or better yet on my iPod.
Thanks.

You don't mention what operating system you are on but I run on Linux. I
download and unzip the zippped tzx file and unzip it into a folder. I
installed a program called PlayTZX from World of Spectrum at this location:
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/utilities.html. I have the Unix/Linux
version but you can also one versions for the Mac and Doc/PC too.
Then I load it on a tape cassette. I think (but it is my personal opinion)
the shorter less fancy tapes give the best results but your mileage may
differ.
I then plug the mic of the recorder into the speaker out jack of the
soundcard. I get better results using the phono jack on my amplified
speakers but the sound card sound out works good too. I start the record
(making sure I am past the tape leader then call the playtzx program. In
my case If I was going to save the penetrator.tzx program I give the
path-to-playtzxfile/playtzc penetrator.tzx. It converts the tzx file to a
VOC file which gets recorded fine.
There are also some other great utilities in that program for other formats.
You might not need to put in the path in which case you would do something
like playtzx.exe penetrator.tzx after starting the recorder.
Or if you did not wish to save to tape, you could just plug the soundcard
output jack (or speaker phone jack) directly into the ear connector on the
ts2068.
I also think it is a great idea to install the Fuse emulator and set it up
to run the ts2068 to try the program out before saving it to tape. Some of
those programs won't load on the ts2068 but work very well using one of the
other modes such as Spectrum 48, or 128 or other. Don't know why. And it
could be something I am doing wrong. But the emulator is fun.
You might wan to get other opinions about which emulator to use or TZX
conversion tool if you are using Windows. But I think the developers of
the Fuse emulator and the PlayTZX programs did a fantastic job for the
Linux operating system.
