7805 regulators aren't exactly soft start. Spectrums were always so
delicate.
Had an Atari ST last year sometime which I used for one of my memory
upgrade
projects. Whoever had it before had certainly done something to it, the
lumpy solder and flux everywhere. I honestly didn't think it possible.
And it ended up like this, whipped the lot out!!...
