Hi Cor,
It would not a problem to use the sgi fc hub with the DEA units at all!! It accept differend sizes of fc drives with the DEA unit when you are planning to use the DPER Raid units this required special raid software to configure the raid. and require special clariion firmware on 2-3 drives of the DPER units.
If you put a Storage Process bwtween the HUB and the Disks, I don't see how the drive type applies in this case.
I have used the sgi hub a few years ago and it was working fine on any type fibre drives on 2 x 5 configuration and 1 x 10 configuration when used the JBOD´s.
Ok Good. Did you have the 9470140 9GB 7200RPM FC Drive in your JBOD? Thanks!
Hi,
If you setup the SGI HUB IP address gateway ext... you can configure the
Hub in 2x 5 mode "dual loop config" or 1x 10 mode "single loop config."
The DB9 conectors 5 and 10 are for attach the fibre units you want to configure on this Hub. The ports on the front are for conecting to the hosts.
About the Hub be sure you have the serial connectors + cable include the Hub or you need to no the ip address and gateway and password for the Hub for configuration.
Cor
I have not tested the the exact 9470140 9GB 7200RPM FC Drives you have add to your JBOD .... but it have no sense that the would not work on the SGI Hub .... the array will be linkted only between port 5 or 10 to the hosts ports ... so don´t worry that this drives would not work with the Sgi Hub.
Cor .
