All of a sudden, since this morning my Treo went silent. The only sound it
makes is when the phone rings. I cannot hear the caller or caller cannot
hear me unless I am using headset.
Last time I used the phone was yesterday evening, so something happened
after that. I have not installed any software sine last 6 months.
I synced the phone with my Mac laptop before using it yesterday evening.
I use palm desktop to sync and I have always synced it with same laptop.
I do not even hear clicking sound when I move around on the screen with the
keys or from the games.
I rest the phone (soft reset and removal of the battery) but that did not
help.
Has anyone experienced similar problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?
I have had this phone for couple of years and do not have replacement plan.

I had the same problem with the first Palm Treo 680. I had to
return it because I discovered that it was a problem with the jack.
The problem came about when I was listening to music through the
earbuds that come with the Palm Treo. It affected my ability to speak
to anyone, nor could I hear anyone else unless I was using the ear
buds. I only had the device for three weeks and was still under
warranty. I was asked to return it and was given another Palm Treo
680. I haven't had any problems since then. I bet that it probably
has something to do with the jack for the earpiece, which may have
become defective.
