Re: Palm TX vs. Tungsten E2

I have a TX, my wife a E2. My previous Palm was a T2.
The WiFi is great. I have hotsynced and checked my email. The Bluetooth has paired with Stereo headset.
There are several features of the T2 that are missing. The Graffitti on the TX is noticably poorer, drawing in the screen
area is not as effecent, but there are more Graffitti options. The Voice Recorder would be a nice option but seldem used,
but it did give a extra programmablle button. I also liked the ability of the T2 to reduce it's size when in pocket.
Also, the Stylus for the T2 is supperior to either the TX or E2. I also prefered the combined power/USB connection allowing
the T2 to charge via USB connection.

The E2 might be faster but I have not taken time to benchmark the E2 and TX. The E2 has a dedicated graffitti area
while the TX can be turned off for more viewing area. Both the E2 and TX use the same Hotsync and power plug so having
both in the family allows less cables (except there are two cables for USB and Power).

If you just want a PDA to pass the time and orginze your schedule the E2 can support everything. It has enough memory and
speed to do. You can write email but requires a Hotsync to send it (or a extra WiFi card). No real Internet surfing. You can
find open Bluetooth devices (as you can on a T2) and pair it to your phone and use it as a dialup modem.

The TX includes a WiFi card. Useful in setting up WiFi networks without hauling a Laptop around. You can find
Hotspots (open and secured) and connect to WiFi networks and access files, a easy way to install apps without hotsyncing.
There does seem to be a bug about hotsyncing using Bluetooth and Wifi. When a Bluetooth on my PC is on the TX forgets
about the WiFi connection and finding it again is a mystery. In therory, I can process videos and watch them on the TX.
Also, the current audio player for the TX is Pocket Tunes and starting with version 4 it includes Internet Radio connection,
but requires a hotspot connection.
I have paired the TX bluetooth with my Computer, Printer, LG phone, handsfree headset, Stereo headphones and other
PDA's. Documentation is not very clear on what profiles are supported. The A2DP is supported with third party software.
The phone is not allowed to talk to others, Thanks Verizon... The headsets may also need the right software but I have not
found any.
You can hotsync the TX with you PC (and I expect a Mac) via Cable, WiFi, Bluetooth and Phone (via Bluetooth).
The E2 can hotsync via Cable and Bluetooth (direct or with phone).
The only problems are the Graffitti and the Power button that does not work.

Between the two, if the WiFi and Widescreen worth the extra cost, go for it. I would wait for a new model compining the best
of all Models, but it looks like they are abandoning the PDA market. Maybe the Ultra PC's will drop in price before my PDA
dies.
