I am looking for a PDA that is usable outdoors in a variety of weather
conditions. Mainly this will be to geocache using a bluetooth GPS
receiver. I have only found one unit and it has been out of
production for a couple of years. Is there anything out that is
current? Are they remotely affordable? Handheld GPS receivers are
weatherproof and still economical. I would expect there would be some
demand for an economical, weatherproof PDA.

For a somewhat out of date list of rugged Windows CE devices, see my
21 April 2005 contribution to a thread called "Looking for special
material" in microsoft.public.pocketpc.

"Remotely affordable" is a relative term. But rugged and inexpensive
are generally incompatible for PDAs. That's at least partly because
the small market means development costs are a large part of the final
cost.

Someone already provided a link to Otter, which makes rugged,
waterproof cases. Here's a slightly longer list, including some that
are rugged, but not waterproof:

For waterproof, but not rugged, a sturdy plastic bag might work well.
