Is that actually stated in any of Palm's information about the Pre?http://www.palm.com/us/products/phones/pre/index.html#tab2
"Memory 8GB of user storage (~7.4GB user available)
USB mass storage support"
OK, thanks. Not sure I'd seen that before ... I thought I'd reached the
bottom of that page when I reached the first block of footnotes ...
(stupid page layout).
I understand the above as yes, you can access the files. And why
not? Using USB mass storage is a simple way of getting data to and
from the device rather than making your own protocol.
Why not indeed! The fact remains that Palm do not have a history of
making this easy ... nor do the makers of various other devices (e.g.
cameras and MP3 players) that I've looked at. It's by no means a given
-- but if the Pre does it, that's great.
yeah, i know they dont always make it easy.
[cuuuuuuut]
However, the lifedrive and the T5 support the "USB mass storage"
profile and they don't use it to support all the things you're
suggesting the Pre will. I hope you're right about the Pre, but I'm old
enough and cynical enough not to cheer until the horse passes the
winning post -- or at least gets to the final furlong.
I'm suggesting it like this, because this is how i would make it
myself. And to make sure that only one had access, i would just
make a lock file.
