After trying a new browser (Universe 3) which crashed my TX three
times in a row within the first 2 minutes, I un-installed it. Now, on
most applications that have a vertical scroll bar (Versamail, Blazer,
TCPMP, Avantgo, etc.) every time I hit the "down" button it
immediately goes into a soft reset. I'm thinking I may have a corrupt
preference file of some sort. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can
cure this problem?
Try a safe mode reset. Press the reset button while holding the up
button.

OK -- so then what? Once it is in "Safe Mode", how do I identify and
get rid of a corrupted preference file?
preferences. The safe mode itself might cure the crashing problem, or
you might have to delete applications one at a time, or do a hard reset
and restore from backup.
