I'm thinking of replacing my venerable IIIx as my current computer
doesn't have a serial port and adding one is relatively expensive.

So what newer Palms (with USB connection) might I look at? I'm
thinking of buying secondhand. I don't need colour, I don't need
anything significantly cleverer than the IIIx offers in the way of
applications.

My big issue is with battery life/recharging. My Palm very rarely
gets to its cradle and when away from home I don't travel by car so a
car charger isn't an option. Thus replaceable batteries are much the
best option for me, if not then non-volatile memory is a must because
there's a significant chance of internal Li-Ion batteries not getting
recharged.

What options do I have? Maybe a newer Palm with non-volatile memory
is the way to go, what's the cheapest/simplest end of that range?
