Palm TX - Wireless missing after installing ESU - anyone got a quick fix?

I installed the Enterprise Security Update (ESU) on my Palm TX (UK
purchased) last night.
Palm OS Garnet 5.4.9 ID = PN70MCC5V8G7-F
I now have a problem where I have the choice of having
a) working wireless and no extra applications
OR
b) all applications and data but apparently missing wireless
functionality
Symptoms:
Wireless icon is missing from bottom of the screen;
Wireless entry is missing from the preferences screen.
The extra applications include Nomad Suite (BackupBuddy and RemoveIt),
and (the important one) YAPS (with lots of password entries). This
means that given a choice between having passwords or WiFi, I will opt
for the passwords.
Given that I have BAckupBuddy, backups and RemoveIt I am hoping that
there is the possibility that deleting some files might automagically
restore wireless functionality, simply by deleting some files from the
TX.
These are the steps that followed to get into this situation.
I have just moved to using an Apple Powerbook as my main laptop, so I
had to install the update using my old laptop (XP Pro).
Before I did anything else I used BackupBuddy to make 2 backups to 2 SD
cards. I also Zipped the backups directory of my XP HotSynch account
installation
I followed the instructions to install the ESU (Hotsynch, install and
Hotsynch again)
It all initially seemed okay, but attempting to use the wireless
functionality always reset the TX.
Looking at the backup directory of my HotSynch installation showed lots
of WiFi* and wifi* files in the backup directory. I "gardened" these
files (removing them from the backups directory) and redid the
installation.
It all seemed okay, and the new wireless options were displayed and I
successfully connected to my LAN.
I then hotsynced between the TX and my Apple (using Missing Synch).
After hotsynch all of my additional applications (including YAPS and
all of those password entries) were missing.
In order to get my applications and data back I restored from one of my
SD backups: at this stage there is no option to garden the restored
data. After reset the wireless functionality is missing. Checking the
backup list I see that I have restored these suspiciously
wireless-orientated file names:
WifiPanel_enUS
WifiSlip_enUS
WifiSlip
WifiLib
WifiNPPI_enUS
WifiNPPI
WiFiDB
WiFiLib_enUS
Following the advice in
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/tx/txupdate.html, I attempted
to check the WI-Fi version
"
Or, to check the version of the Wi-Fi module:
Press the Home key.
Tap on Applications.
Tap on the time in the Title bar for the drop-down Menu.
Select Info...
Tap Version in the Info dialog.
Scroll down to find Wi-Fi.
"
I don't have a single Wi-Fi entry, I have a series of entries:
.....
Wi-Fi Setup V 1.0.2
wifibusiflib V 1.0.1
WiFiCoreLib V1.0
WiFiDB V0.0
wifidbLib-WMru V1.0
WiFiGlueLib V2.0
WiFilLT V1.01 LT
WiFiLib V3.0
WiFiNPPI V3.0
WifiPolicyLib V1.0
WiFiServices-Wsvc V1.0
WiFiSlip V4.0
WiFiSSLLib V1.0
.....
The only one one these close to the before / after version (4.0/4,.1)
is WiFiSlip V4.0
So currently I have all applications back but the TX is missing
wireless functionality (missing as options not visible on screen).
Question:
Does anyone know which of these extensions should be removed in order
to restore WIreless functionality? I am presuming that one or more of
these restored files is interfering with the reflashed TX wireless
functionality.
Failing that can anyone who has successfully installed ESU give me a
list of version numbers for the following components (broken
installation version numbers follow):
"
.....
Wi-Fi Setup V 1.0.2
wifibusiflib V 1.0.1
WiFiCoreLib V1.0
WiFiDB V0.0
wifidbLib-WMru V1.0
WiFiGlueLib V2.0
WiFilLT V1.01 LT
WiFiLib V3.0
WiFiNPPI V3.0
WifiPolicyLib V1.0
WiFiServices-Wsvc V1.0
WiFiSlip V4.0
WiFiSSLLib V1.0
.....
"
If the quckfix fails (deleting the incorrect version) I can hotsynch
the wireless to a new hotsynch account, so that I can have all of my
data available for a full recovery.
I want to avoid going through the whole ESU installation again or have
to compare the Wifi* files pre and post ESU.
I also want to avoid a resynch on XP if possible, simply because I
don't want to alter the Hotsynched data: this will be my fallback
recovery installation.
Resources available for recovery:
2 before backups (including lots of wifi* , wiFi* entries)
1 post installation synchronized XP Palm installation
1 severely incorrect synchronized Powerbook Palm installation
Any other useful advice would also be most welcome.
