Tools-Categories and unassign the categories for my events to become
visible again...

Just above the calendar box, in the upper left corner is where you
choose which category to view. When viewing a single category, all the
other categories blank out their text, but keep the colored boxes
visible to help prevent scheduling conflicts. Just choose the 'ALL'
category to view all of the appointments.
